In the wake of his most recent sold out Jazz Showcase appearance, Ian Maksin has added another show date at this premiere Chicago jazz venue! This time, internationally acclaimed cellist and composer will be joined by his long time colleague and collaborator, Romanian guitarist Gabriel Datcu.
Maksin and Datcu, two of Chicagos leading instrumentalists will play their super funky takes on some of the most passionate and romantic tunes from many eras and styles! The program will include music of Bach, Vivaldi, Rachmaninov, classic jazz tunes by Duke Ellington, Iriving Berlin, Henri Mancini, modern jazz compositions by John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Brazilian bossanovas by Tom Jobim, Argentine tangos by Astor Piazzolla, songs by Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson,as well as Maksins original compositions and ethno-jazz takes on traditional music from many corners of the world: from Turkey to Eastern Siberia and from the Balkans to West Africa. Maksin will also sing several love ballads in different languages: Italian, French, Spanish, Macedonian, Kurdish, and his native Russian....
